Fishing the

Metolius

The Metolius is clear, cold river, and a perfect habitat for growing strong, determined and intelligent trout.

The House on Metolius is one of the longest stretches of private property on the river, and one of the few places that offers relatively easy casting. That’s good news for beginners… and anybody else that prefers to see their fly floating on the riffle and not tangled in a willow.

The game fish on the Metolius are the rainbow trout and the bull trout.  Rainbows tend to be smaller—around 18 inches—while the bull trout can exceed ten pounds, and lurk under the bridges and the overhanging banks of the river. The House on Metolius property is one of the best bull trout locations on the river.

House on Metolius offers a full-day and half-day guided fishing for guests on the property.  This is an excellent way to learn how to fish, or for anybody that would like some advice on the secrets of flies and gear.

Fishing gear is included on a guided day. Just bring yourself, a hat, sunscreen and a good pair of polarized sunglasses (handy for seeing the fishing through the glare on the water).

The Camp Sherman Store is only about 5-minutes from the property, and has a great selection of flies and other critical fishing gear.

A fantastic little fly shop in Sisters, Oregon, where you can get everything you need to fish the Metolius.

We have recently started a partnership with RareWaters for limited access to our special stretch of the river.
